Nothing felt contrived to me. Very relevant and everything. Make no mistake though. We have cardboard characters in a fake town with silly markers like “Himmel Street” and “Munich Street” you can’t spell Strasse?
Okay, let me elaborate.
I am going to be thinking about this story tonight, and I’m banking that the movie will rip me apart all over again. Not even a little bit. Some of the prose is of my favourite type, whimsical, childish, and magical — but the story itself is gritty, sombre and filled with everyday heroism. Mal angewidert, mal mitgerissen, mal schulterzuckend, mal mitfiebernd.
But I also believe that you really don’t know what you like until you try to read it. Despite this there is no mention of an afterlife. The name field is required.

I’ve read books from equally absurd points of view, I thought. You make me expect something huge and it’s not. The author has come up with a somewhat unique idea–telling a story from the point of view of death.
Well, at least I wondered at first. Allan has such a rich and rolling voice, with the most enthusiastic of character voices, it was a joy to listen to. Death as a narrator is by and large bsmbina first thing you’ll hear about this book. I found a lot of parts to be so utterly boring that I skipped ten pages every once in a while.
Who says Germans love to burn intellect? Why couldn’t you just make it fucking real? I just won’t read it, then.
