It seemed in parts he could have developed the plot more thoroughly and provided more realistic detail for certain key players.
He flees military school to avoid having to harass Jews as a soldier, and in the process he has to battle his arch-rival. Honestly, it was a little slow in parts. Sent to an elite military academy at the tender age of four, Sergei Ivanov Socrates comes of age training to protect a way of life he doesn’t understand.
This is painfully short-lived, and God how I cried and boiled with rage. I read this book while going through an intense recovery phase in my life and for the first time in years, I regained my faith in God and Xan the meaning of forgiveness. He could never have imagined that from the moment of his birth he was destined to become the peaceful warrior who daj change the lives of millions worldwide.
The beginning tells the history of Socrates and at first I didn’t see the relevance and wondered where “the good stuff” was; I later realized that this history was a key part of understanding Socrates, where he’d come from and what he overcame to become the person he was at the end of the book.
Despite these minor flaws I still enjoyed the book tremendously for the insight, wisdom, and entertaining nature of it all. I will be giving it as birthday and Christmas presents this year. There are also countless ways to describe how special this book is, that I don’t know where to begin. The Journeys of Socrates by Dan Millman. Ganz im Sinne des Peaceful Warriors! He is the one who is called Socrates in the other Peaceful Warrior books. There is a blend of culture, tragedy, violence, mysticism, and martial technology that keeps the reader socratew engaged no matter what their preferred genre.
You will find this saga quite different from Way of the Peaceful Warrior — I had no wish to clone my first work. The Journeys of Socrates is superbly written and well-narrated story which teaches you about the way of a peaceful warrior who is broken down by tyranny and robbed of I started this book as a novel. I just could not put it down. Thank you, Dan Millman, for writing this book. That is why I purchased this audible version for a road trip my family took. Balance, choice, process, presence, compassion, faith, expectation, integrity, action, cycles, surrender, and unity.
The mentor has a lot to teach us, much of it needing many years to mull over and absorb. A story mixed with spiritual lessons the follows the life, tragedies and adventures of a master. His only remaining relative that we know of, his grandfather, dies.
